The Catch Up Series with Leigh

Welcome to another instalment of my Catch Up Series.  This month I sat down with Leigh.  I’ve known Leigh for about six years now, and over those years I have loved getting to know him, and learning about the fascinating work he does.   Read on learn more about Leigh and how he likes to dress.

1. Tell us about what you do for work and what is the most exciting thing that has happened in the last couple of months?

I’m a digital marketer, specialising in growth hacking.  I typically work with early and growth stage technology companies.

I just finished a month long project with a cool start up out of Melbourne who build Apple device management platforms for the enterprise (so companies can manage and deploy Macs and iPhones).  This team are the backbone of many ASX200 companies and my project was to help them scale their technology into businesses with less than 1,000 devices. I love working with highly capable teams with big visions, keep an eye out for this company they’re called Fyrtarn.

2. How would you describe your general style and what do you wear on a daily basis?

In tech companies it’s pretty casual, so I’m either wearing nice jeans or tailored slacks, with a beautiful tailored shirt (and some cool kicks or leather shoes).  After work dinners or weekend adventures call for a sports jackets and an overcoat if it’s cold, and I love to put together a formal outfit when special occasions call.

I don’t have any style icons as such, I just love seeing men and women being intentional about what they wear, and wearing pieces with confidence.  Nice tailoring and bespoke garments really do help you feel confident and intentional with work or on a date, it’s like pulling on your best version of yourself. They are worth every penny in my opinion.

3. Do you have any style icons, and where else did you find inspiration?

I used to wear a suit to work with nice ties and beautiful shirts with cuff links.  It was right when Men’s fashion was mad a little more desirable to the average man by TV shows such as Mad Men and Suits. That’s when I met you mate after having a few frustrating experiences with other tailors.

What I have enjoyed about our 7 year journey together is the education and creativity behind your work.  I’ve enjoyed learning about different fabrics and styles that work for me, and always trying something new with each piece we make.

4. How many Carl Navè pieces do you own, and which is your favourite and why?

I own many Carl Navè shirts; I especially love the newest batch of four we made the other day.  I also own three tailored Sports Jackets, four pairs of cotton chinos, a navy blue made to measure suit, which I love, an overcoat and a really beautiful tuxedo.  My favourite piece however is my royal blue linen sports jacket, which has a beautiful peak lapel.  The caramel overcoat also gets people talking too!
