With the Spring Racing Carnival just around the corner, I thought it was high time we look at some of the latest seasonal trends coming out of Europe.
Pitti Uomo, held in Florence biannually, is taking over from the European catwalks and fashion shows and is becoming the authority in showcasing current trends that are wearable and functional.
Neutral tones have made an appearance in many Autumn/Winter collections for some time now, but they are remerging for Spring/Summer paired back with soft pastels and highlights. There are lots of shades of brown from tan to faun to chocolate. Green has also made a great come back, with soft sage tones to deeper olive hues. Perhaps for the more adventurous, we are seeing plenty of turquoise and teal in lightweight wool and linen fabrications.
Silhouettes are becoming less fitted due to the use of linen and mohair with wool, which requires a little more ease and drape around the body. There is an even mix between single and double-breasted suits, confirming the fact that double-breasted is back on trend. Lapels are getting even bigger and pocket embellishments are more prominent; think pockets with flaps or buttons. Lastly, pleats aren’t going anywhere anytime soon and trouser lengths are cropped and cuffed.
Having said all of this, I am firm believer that style is personal and individual. Trends are great as a point of reference or for some inspiration but ultimately what you wear is an extension of you and your personality. This is why I love what I do. We can create something unique and special, especially for you. Whether bespoke or made-to-measure, you can have whatever your heart desires at any time of the year really.
