Words cannot express how excited I was to see these amazing photos. John and Jess were married earlier this year on the beautiful Philippine island of Boracay and I’m sure you will agree, it looks pretty special. What a stunning location!
I first met John and Jess a few months before their big day and we spoke at great length about their grand vision for their big day. We looked at hundreds of swatches and spoke a great deal about different fabrications and textures. We discussed linen mohair and even lightweight wool, as the weather was clearly a factor here. John needed to feel comfortable but look stylish and elegant at the same time. Initially, John wanted a green jacket, but once I saw a photo of the Shangri-La Resort and the beautiful turquoise ocean in the background, I knew the shade we needed to go for.
After some scouring and sourcing, I came across Dormeuil’s latest Naturals Collection. A beautiful blend of wool and silk that gives the appearance and texture of linen but actually drapes more like wool and without the wrinkle factor of linen. Ideal for a summer wedding, Doremuil’s collection of Naturals comes in a beautiful selection of pastels and this is where we found the perfect shade of a green turquoise. I’m pretty sure both John and Jess gasped when I first showed them the Doremuil swatch.
Next, we had two create the rest of John’s ensemble, which was pretty easy actually. We wanted the bespoke blazer to shine, so we went for an ivory pair of cotton stretch chinos also from Dormeuil’s Naturals collection. A crisp white made to measure shirt and a gorgeous hand made ivory bow tie with little blue florets. I have the most amazing bespoke tie maker in Italy, and he absolutely nailed the brief. The silk we used is from a very special selection of vintage silks and I loved the way a simple bow tie really popped.
I also made the ensemble for John’s best man Jason. We wanted Jason to look different but to still compliment John. We opted for a beautiful lightweight linen and wool blend made to measure sports jacket in a royal blue, with the same ivory chinos as John.
The boys certainly looked chic but relaxed at the same time, but it was the bride that brought all the glamour. Jess looked absolutely stunning in her Toni Maticevski white gown.
A big congratulations to you both John and Jess! I absolutely loved working with you all.
