What better way to kick off our autumn weddings for the year than with a beautiful black tie wedding? However this black tie wedding came with a subtle twist.
Matthew and Zoe were married last March at Melbourne’s Alfred Place. A beautiful and sophisticated venue located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. Surrounded by friends and family the newlyweds exchanged vowels and celebrated in style.
Earlier this year I posted an article on my blog referencing an outstanding trend at the 2019 Academy Awards. I spoke about the emergence of velvet and its prevalence on the red carpet and at other black tie events. I like to utilise velvet as for a winter tux, or for the more daring a smoking jacket, which traditionally has little more embellishment.
My blog post reached Matt and it inspired him for his own made to measure wedding suit. When we sat down to discuss details and options, Matt wanted the classic shawl collar lapel dinner jacket finished in black velvet. I love this look as it is subtle, but up close it is very obvious. We detailed the jacket with satin trim and satin buttons and paired the jacket back with a 100% wool trouser.
Matt’s groomsmen opted for my newly launched made to order Romano Cocktail jacket. The perfect option for that person that doesn’t necessarily want a tuxedo but would like a formal black suit that could be worn with a bow tie. All of the features of a dinner jacket sans the satin.
Here are some of photos of Matt and Zoe’s special day. I am sure you’ll agree they look stunning, as does their bridal party.
A big congratulation to the happy couple!
