Paulie & Claudia

When prominent Melbourne restaurateur Paulie announced his engagement to his gorgeous fiancé Claudia, we knew we were going to be in for an epic wedding.

I’ve known Paulie for a long time and we have worked together on many suits and outfits over the years, which is mostly for other people’s weddings. However, this time, it was his turn.

Paulie knew exactly what he wanted. Having attended a large number of black-tie weddings, he is no stranger to a tuxedo and how it should be worn. Therefore, it was only fitting that Paulie wore a bespoke white dinner jacket on his wedding day.

We chose a beautiful wool, cashmere, and silk blend cloth from Dormeuil’s Celebration collection. In case you didn’t know, pure wool does not exist in pure white because it is washed and carded to achieve the most natural colour possible. Therefore, shades vary from off-white to cream. This particular Dormeuil cloth is the closest to a pure white I’ve ever made and is the perfect weight for a summer Byron Bay wedding.

We detailed the jacket’s peak lapels, button and besom pockets with off-white silk for a touch of flare and then paired it all back with a black Super 120 merino wool from Vitale Barberis Canonico for the trousers. A beautiful deep black cloth with plenty of natural sheens and a beautiful drape.

Paulie wore a white dinner-shirt with a Marcella patch and a hand made bow tie to top off his beautiful black-tie affair. Though it was his beautiful bride, Claudia, that stole the show in her custom One Day Bridal gown.

I also had the pleasure of dressing the male contingent of the bridal party and father of the bride. Made to Measure black dinner suits were the order for the day, each with a broad peak lapel and a little touch of personalization to make everyone feel special.

Paulie and Claudia got married in the Byron Bay hinterlands in front of a large crowd of their closest family and friends. The private property on which the ceremony and festivities took place was carefully curated by Paulie and The Events Lounge.  However, as any restaurateur would attest, it was all about the food which looked delicious thanks to Harvest Newrybar.  Even though the day went off without a hitch, it wasn’t free of drama.  The catestrophic NSW bushfires were on their door step hence an evacuation plan was needed just in case things get a little heated. Fortunately, the evacuation plan wasn’t required and everyone had an amazing night.

Congratulations to Paulie and Claudia! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day.
