Steven & Cam

Inspiration comes in many forms, sometimes you see an image of the perfect suit and you want to recreate your version of it. Or sometimes it is a place or mood which inspires you. However, in Steven and Cam’s case, it was a pair of shoes that inspired the whole look and feel of the wedding outfits. A pair of Gucci loafers, to be precise.

When Steven and Cam first came into the studio to see me about their custom-made wedding suits, they presented me with a Gucci box containing the Gucci Brixton loafers they had already purchased. A woven ecru loafer, with the signature green and red band with a gold buckle. This immediately dictated the colour of the trousers, off-white cotton stretch tailored chinos, which allowed the shoes to shine.

The jackets were inspired by the theme of the wedding. Melbourne meets Miami. The boys were planning to host the best rooftop pool party Melbourne had ever season and they wanted everything to pop. As you can see from the photos you can see that it was a total success.

Being a summer wedding, I always recommend linen and when looking at different linen fabrics it’s hard to go past Dugdale Bros. in the UK. They produce some of the most amazing cloth and their latest collection has some of the most vibrant colours I have seen.

We opted for bright peacock linen for the made-to-measure sports jackets and complimented with a subtle pink gingham checked shirt. The colours combined had a very fun summery feel about them, yet the silhouette and the bespoke crafted details imbued class and elegance. Exactly how I’d like a couple of grooms to feel on their wedding day.

Steven and Cam were married on the rooftop of Carlton’s Rydges hotel in late January this year. Their celebration was an amazing culmination of style, food, art, fun, and frivolity. Popular Melbourne artistic performers The Huxleys were on show teasing and tantalising the guests with their unique and hip style. Even prominent Melbourne house-wife/barrister Gina Liano officiated the wedding, adding a touch more glitz to this already glamorous wedding.

I also had the pleasure of making an ensemble for Steven’s father Trevor, who looked very suave in his blue linen jacket and stone chinos ensemble. There’s a great photo of both father and son walking down the aisle together before the ceremony, a testament that true style does run in the family.

Steven and Cam, big congratulations to you both. It was such a pleasure to work with you all on such a momentous occasion, thank you for allowing me to share in on the journey with you. Wishing you all the very best.

For the rest of you, I hope you enjoy flicking through these amazing photos.
