Many weddings aren’t always about glitz and glamour, tuxedos and bridal parties. Sometimes, the most beautiful weddings are the ones that seem simple and effortless.
Whether your wedding is country themed or beach inspired, a garden party or a stand up cocktail party, a relaxed vibe is very much on trend. I am often asked, what are the best ways to make a groom shine in a more relaxed settings. Here are a few of my tips on how to dress for your wedding day.
- No matter how relaxed your big day is, ensure that the groom is the best-dressed man in the room. Remember, we always know where the bride is, so the groom needs to shine a little too.
- Colour; don’t be afraid to embrace a bit of colour, especially something that you know most of the guests wouldn’t where to the party. Think soft pastels and subtle patterns.
- Dress for the season. If you are getting married in summer, dress appropriately even if it is hot. Tailored shorts are great if you are getting in a beach setting, but not so much for at a winery. If Winter is when you are marrying, rug up with a classy overcoat or a tweed overcoat. Accessories with scarves and gloves – these are very much on trend.
- Embrace different fabrics – Linen is amazing for summer and tropical wedding locations. It is light and breezy and looks super elegant. Don’t worry about the wrinkle factor this is what linen does. A good tailor wont cut your linen suit too close to the body, as it doesn’t have the same stretch and tenacity as wool or cotton. Cotton suiting can also look very classy, yet relaxed; I particularly love the two tone look. Contrasting your jacket and trousers certainly set a more relaxed scene.
