Jakob & Anna

There certainly seems to be a trend happening around weddings these days. With more and more of my clients choosing to leave Melbourne behind in favour of exotic destinations, intimate gatherings and of course warmer weather.  Jakob and Anna are two of those people opting to leave our shores and exchange their vows in the beautiful holiday setting of Bali.

Jakob and I first sat down to talk about his ideas a few months prior to the wedding. This gave us plenty of time for me to get a good understanding of his personal style, but also the style of their wedding.  We spoke about the location, the colours that inspired them, Anna being an interior designer put together the best mood board I’ve ever seen, and of course the weather.  Bali is usually pretty predictable weather wise, but it can get extremely warm.  Given that Anna and Jakob both wanted to look and feel elegant at the same time, we were limited to a select range of cloth.

Fortunately Lanificio Flli. Cerruti dal 1881 produce a beautiful range of wool blended with silk.  This cloth is super light weight, intact it’s called Silk Light around 220grams per square metre, yet the wrinkle recovery and drape is comparable to to a much heavier cloth. Why you ask?  It’s because of the silk composition.  Silk is a much strong fibre than wool and blended together they make a perfect match for strength and comfort.  The perfect cloth for the best made to measure suit fort your summer wedding.  But in this case Jakob’s wedding.

Jakob fell in love with the baby blue herringbone from the Cerruti range and we all agreed that it would tick all the boxes.  The subtle weave is noticeable up close and provides a lovely texture, but it doesn’t interrupt the colour of the overall suit, and this is the impact we wanted to make.  The rest was actually quite simple, a classic white poplin shirt and a beautiful navy blue jacquard tie.  Nothing else was needed.
