LUCA & JANICE
Location: Melbourne Museum, Victoria
Date: December, 2018
Take an iconic Melbourne landmark, a beautiful bride and a dashing Italian groom and we have the makings of a perfect wedding. Luca and Janice got married in early December at the Melbourne Museum, in front of their nearest and dearest and I had the pleasure of making the groom’s suit. Photographs were taken within the grounds of the Royal Exhibition Building and the reception was held at Melbourne’s famous Sarti Restaurant, an Italian institution.
The brief: it had to be a three-piece; it should be elegant; it had to offer versatility; and had to be a shade of blue. So we went with a classic Italian look, a mid-blue sharkskin finished with horn buttons. Luca’s made to measure suit was completed over the course of three fittings and we started in early October, before the Spring Racing Carnival rush. This allowed us plenty of time to create the perfect fit, make a made to measure shirt, and hand made accessories to go with it.
The sharkskin cloth we used was from Italian mill, Filarte, and offers the versatility Luca required. Each piece was designed to be worn together and as separates, allowing Luca the ease of future wear. The Sharkskin jacket makes for a great looking sports jacket. This could easily be worn with cotton chinos or a contrast coloured pant, for that typically Italian “spezzato” look (spezzato means broken, referring to to a different coloured jacket and pant).
The look was completed with a hand made navy blue and white polka dots silk tie and a pair of stunning Oxfords shoes by Melbourne leather master, Wootten.
Congratulations to the special couple.
